Void Iterations

The crew of the Moving Finger are lost souls, part of a fleet of mercenary ships roaming the galaxy. The fleet is the last of its kind, answerable to no one. They hire themselves out to the highest bidder, toppling governments and crushing rebellions with advanced weaponry. Omar Khayyam Hadi, captain of the Finger, with the blood of a thousand dead on his hands, thinks there must be a path to redemption.

Omar believes he's found the key to solving the greatest mystery of the age. What happened to the stars? The most advanced human civilizations were wiped out centuries earlier when their stars began to explode. Most think it was the stardrives which warp space-time, but Omar believes the truth to be much more sinister. The answer lies in the mind of a child, taken from her homeworld and set on the path of discovery that will lead them either to madness or the truth.

A story told in four parts, we start with Sasha Fion-Wae, an adventurous young woman who wants more than her agrarian homeworld has to offer. Next Zane, a refugee from a war torn system who may or may not have a soul to lose. Then Bella, reborn into a second life, determined not to waste it as she did the first. Finally, we follow Omar from his youth as a penniless stargazer to a man who adapted himself for success in the fleet and finds that he has lost something essential. With help from an unexpected quarter, he finds himself once more and becomes a Captain in his own right with ambitions of reforming the fleet and possibly changing the entire landscape of human space.
