The Child Taker

When two five-year-old twins are abducted from a campsite in the Lake District, the police are immediately called in to investigate, though hope seems to be fading as the children are still missing past the 'golden hour' - the first hour after abduction, outside of which the chances of being found dwindle. But their grandfather Major Stanley Timms doesn't trust the floundering police investigation in this increasingly complex case and decides to bring his own Special Forces unit in to investigate. Headed by the unconventional and irrepressible John Tankersley, members of this force are beyond police jurisdiction and have their own rules - but even these may not be enough for this complicated case.
