Be aware that this book doesn’t sit readily in any category. It’s part buddy movie, it’s part adventure and it’s part romance. If you have a taste for the absurd, leavened with a little drama, read on. If you’re looking for a narrow genre, then it's probably best if you move on (in a nice way, of course).

Charlie Tiptree is young, wealthy and jealous of his creature comforts. So why does he take in Lance Savage, an unstable man he last saw at school twelve years ago? Is Charlie’s altruism going to prove a blessing or a curse as a strange chain of events begins to disrupt his idle existence?

When the pair help Mary, a friend of Charlie’s, evade justice they’re asked to ‘keep an eye on’ the very poor, very beautiful but very unsympathetic Rowena Hepple. Disaster in the making? As guided by Lance, could Charlie do anything other than be crass and insensitive? Probably not.

Might Charlie stop disliking or being scared of Rowena and, more significantly, could Rowena ever stop despising him – and how could this ever happen? And where does Lance, and everyone else for that matter, fit in? It might be quite amusing, in a dark sort of way, to find out.
