Marcolf was an extraordinary and sinister man.
He claimed the powers of prophecy and often displayed them. Curiously, he never
accepted money for his predictions which always seemed to come true. Instead he
used his powers for the financial gain of others.
One of the beneficiaries was Miss Soolie who
owned a Greenwich Village boarding house. Marcolf had brought her wealth and
she believed implicitly in him. But not so John Perseus, an artist who lived at
Miss Soolie’s house, even though Marcolf had brought John an unexpected sale.
Death struck three times in the boarding house, and although there was no
apparent link between the suicide, the mugging and the heart-attack, John
wondered whether Marcolf knew something about them.
Striking scenes and
explosive action distinguish this exciting story in which mystery and suspense
are grippingly maintained.
