Detective Sam Lawson leaves Texas for a trip to Martha's Vineyard. But the vacation is cut short when a woman winds up dead and his girlfriend's brother-in-law is the main suspect. Soon, Sam is caught up in the search for the missing fugitive and finds himself pitted against the local police in the hunt for the killer.
