Lawson Briggs is a California boy who fell in love with Vermont at a young age. After a life spent surfing and learning how to fly, when the time came to settle down, he did what most adults do… married a woman he thought would be his future and started a business he hoped would be successful. The business turned out great, but when the marriage ended in divorce, his thoughts turned back to that dream he had as a little boy of a life in Vermont with winters on the slopes.

When Lawson meets Rayna at a local tavern in Brook Haven, there are instant fireworks. He wants to pursue it much further, and Rayna wants to do what she does best…withdraw. But Lawson isn’t easily discouraged, and Rayna’s not easily convinced.

With an early frost coming, Lawson plays the hero and helps Rayna save her farm, but soon realizes he can’t hope to save her from herself. Heartbroken, he decides to leave her alone and concentrate on getting his own life in order before trying to fix hers. But out of nowhere, a near tragedy causes Rayna to realize that the feelings she has for Lawson are too intense to deny, but can she tell him before it’s too late?
