The Trail To Yesterday (1913)
An American girl from the East is immersed in the Wild West, an ancient grudge, and the strange tale of Dakota, a man who pretends to be a brute but gradually wins her over.
The Ranchman (1919)
Another classic Wild West adventure tale with gunfights and romance from American author Charles Alden Seltzer.
Book Excerpt --
"Taylor's last shot, when he had been automatically pressing the trigger after Carrington had struck him viciously with his fist, had brought down the last of the three men who had ambushed him. And one of his last bullets had struck Carrington, who had recovered consciousness and staggered out of the house in time to see the end of the fight. And the big man, in a black, malignant fury of hatred, was staggering toward Taylor, lifting a foot to kick him, when from the direction of the clearing in front of the house came a voice, hoarse and vibrant with a cold, deadly rage:"
About The Author
American author Charles Alden Seltzer (1875–1942) was a prolific writer of westerns and his books were turned into more than a dozen Hollywood films.
Along with American writers Zane Grey and William MacLeod Raine, Charles Alden Seltzer is often credited as an originator of the western genre.
He was born in Janesville, Wisconsin, and worked in a variety of jobs to support himself, including as a painter and the editor of a small newspaper. He married Ella Seltzer, and they had three sons and two daughters and during the early years Charles Alden Selzer wrote on paper from the butcher during the years he struggled to become a published author.
His lively and realistic style of western novels is a result of the five years he spent living in New Mexico. By the end of his life, he was mayor of his home-town, North Olmsted, Ohio.
