[Herridon 09] • The Kamiri Born · Chronicles of Mehlis Book 2 (The Herridon Chronicles 9)

Leaving the kingdoms of Olorun and Herridon behind, Mehlis finds herself in the kingdom of Kamir, a land of lush rivers and decadence. As the minstrel Tabari helps her continue to find her way, she learns more about herself and the world, learning to deal with the consequences of emotions and decisions and the complexities of politics in lands other than her own. It's while in the Kamiri city of Azhar that she realizes her own king may have claim to a heritage none of them suspected.

Each alliance and friendship she makes will all bear impact not only on her future, but that of Herridon. A dangerous enemy in the Kamiri city of Fathi threatens the stability of the city's future and the steps Mehlis must take to stop them test her very limit, bringing her to decide if she could make the ultimate sacrifice for a land that isn't her own.

The Second Sentinel follows Mehlis' journey of self-discovery and contains mature (adult) themes and situations, including sexual situations. Though explicit language is not used, they are presented openly and completely. It also introduces ideas of alternative marriage lifestyles.

Book 1 in a 4 book series, The Chronicles of Mehlis follows Mehlis' journey to heal herself and find her place in the world of Herridon. Taking place immediately after the end of Herridon - Chronicles of Nahtan Book 7, this is a standalone story, so reading the first 7 books is not necessary. Characters and events from that story are mentioned and appear in this series, however, so a deeper understanding will be had if they've been read. This 4 book series also answers questions about other characters introduced in The Chronicles of Nahtan. Reading The Chronicles of Mehlis first will give spoilers to how The Chronicles of Nahtan ends.
