Grace Peterson not only fears for her life but also her young daughter's. She makes a decision to run away from her abusive husband and take her daughter with her. She finds a small town called Good Hope in Georgia. She quickly finds a place to live and a job hoping to leave her troubled past behind her. Trying to stay closed off, she ends up befriending the town sheriff and he takes a surprising liking to her and her sweet little girl.

Oliver James has had his fair share of heartache, losing his young wife so soon after they wed. He left his job and life behind him and moved back home to Good Hope in hopes to finally be able to move on. But what he gets is more than he ever could have imagined. A love so strong he would give his life for it, and he almost does.
