INTERESTING FACTS:
§ In 1826, Catlin was elected to the National Academy of Design.
§ In 1830, he traveled West to document the lives and heritage of the Native American Indians on the Great Plains.
§ During Catlin’s travels, he created more than 500 paintings and sketches.
§ After returning from the West in 1838, Catlin created an exhibition called Indian Gallery, that included his paintings and artifacts. He traveled to the major US and § § § European cities with his exhibition.
