Afton Murray has spent the last sixteen years working to keep her grandparents’ boutique open. Now rising crime in the city and dwindling sales may force her to make some tough business decisions. Feeling lost and disappointed, Afton plans a mountain getaway for her birthday.

Max Clayburn doesn’t take kindly to strangers—or people he knows—wandering around on his mountain. He wants to be left alone with his dog to live a solitary life. Most of the townspeople of Friendly Valley obey his wishes, but when an unsuspecting visitor stumbles onto his land and disrupts his isolated existence, Max finds it hard to go back to his reclusive ways.
