Five hundred years after the Advisor's war, the realm of Tauta has descended into chaos and anarchy. Its caretaker has abandoned it and the Dijem are being hunted and killed by the lesser races.

Cori has run from regret after regret throughout the years but when a summer song catches in her mind, she finds herself returning to her homeland to seek it out.

It's been years since she's been home, and Cori finds that in her absence, Cadmus and Daiyu have returned to Tauta and are mobilising to take the throne as their own, but not before they eliminate the remaining Dijem once and for all.

Cori locates a Dijem community and finds she's forced to keep her magic secret, lest they discover she's not like the rest of them. Can she overcome their distrust of her to create an army to face Cadmus and Daiyu in time?
