Waking Up With You

Emma has always depended on her brother Charlie’s support, and when it becomes clear that he’s terminally ill, it appears that she’ll be losing her only family as well as her dreams. Unable to imagine how she’ll be able to move forward with college, let alone medical school, she focuses instead on making him happy. Charlie has a plan for Emma, though—as a dying wish, he insists that she marry their long-time family friend, Jake. In his eyes, the marriage will provide for both of them, and guarantee him some peace of mind.

Unable to say no, Emma and Jake follow through on Charlie’s wishes, but what seemed like a simple arrangement of convenience quickly has Emma’s mind spinning. Is she crazy to be actually falling in love with Jake, and is there any chance of his ever returning her affection? Nothing seems to be going right in Emma’s life, but at least she’s under the same roof as the man she loves—the question is simply whether she can keep him there.
