The stranger throws back his cloak--Mardanax! The Black Magician of Zaar has survived Thongor's destruction of the dread City of Magicians. With a hellish gleam in his emerald eyes, he orders, "Go to thy master and say that Mardanax hath come. I have lived to see the barbarian Thongor in his tomb."

And Mardanax is as evil as his word. With unholy power, he strikes Thongor dead, drugs Thongor's beautiful queen into mindless obedience, kidnaps his son. Thongor's empire has fallen to the forces of Chaos.
