The first time I saw Liam was at my mother's funeral. I had no idea who he was or why he was there until a week later when he randomly introduced himself to me at my neighbourhood pub. He's the kind of man who turns heads looking like he's just stepped off the cover of GC Magazine and had me tripping over my tongue at our introduction because of it.
But somehow, he found my innocence and naivety charming, and I wasn't about to argue the point. So Liam, in all his smooth moves and charm, talked his way into my living room and my panties before I'd had time to blink, all the while comforting me as I mourned the untimely deaths of my parents.
Liam was everything I ever wanted in a lover except for one glaring problem. He's a companion. His job is to pleasure other women; thus, Liam isn't a guy you fall for or plan a future with, although I'm sure many have tried.
And so, with that brick wall standing between me, my damp panties and my melting heart every time I laid eyes on Liam, we parted ways. I needed the one thing he couldn't offer me - monogamy.
But it seems our lives are convolute in ways I could never have imagined. The secrets Liam held about those I loved were unsettling, some genuinely shocking, and others unfathomable, leaving me to wonder if I should find a bigger rock to hide under or embrace my new reality.
