Can true love really conquer anything?
Kevin, a popular high school senior, thought that love only occurred to someone who didn’t know how to have fun in life. Just as Fiona completely convinces him otherwise, Kevin gets diagnosed with cancer, which he sees as a death sentence. He breaks up with Fiona to spare her the pain and she leaves for college without knowing the true reason behind the breakup. Now Kevin needs two miracles. One that makes him survive and one to undo the biggest mistake of his life.
Read this contemporary romance novel by S. L. Giger and find out whether it’s as moving as ‘The Fault in Our Stars’ by John Green.
Interview with the author
Q: How did you get the ideas for this book?
A: This is actually the first book I’ve ever written. I started writing it when I was 17 when my host brother from my exchange year in the US was diagnosed with cancer. I’ve never been good with talking about emotional things and so I felt an inner need to write. Since then, I write all the time, about any topic that interests me.
Q: Sounds like a very personal story.
A: It is because the topic touches and moves me but I tried to really write a fictional story and just put my feelings into it. I pretty much rewrote the whole story in 2016 because my editor made such good suggestions and now I feel like there is enough distance in the story to my personal life.
Q: Are there more books by you, which your readers can enjoy?
A: I wrote another romance novel which isn’t yet published and my paranormal fantasy romance ‘Heart of Power: The Siren’s Awakening was published in November 2016. I’m very excited about that one. It will be a trilogy and soon, I will start writing the second book. I hope that I get it done until the end of 2017. I’m not sure how much time I will find for writing next to my full-time job.
Q: Who will like A Sketch of What You Mean To Me.
A: Well, it’s a cancer romance with strong friendships and true love, therefore, I think people who like books by Nicholas Sparks, like A Walk to Remember or John Green’s The Fault in Our Stars will love A Sketch of What You Mean to Me.
