Detective Chris Hunter from "Death Never Sleeps" is back with a new case.

In an abandoned storage locker Detective Chris Hunter discovers Murder Books for a notorious crime, The Early Bird Café Massacre, where eight people were murdered in cold blood.

Since the case had been closed and the killer sent to Death Row, Chris leafed through the Murder Books mostly out of curiosity, until he found a reference to his old partner, Big Jim Donegan. When Chris saw Big Jim's name his interest in the Early Bird Café killings took on a whole new urgency.

The deeper Hunter probed the more he began to wonder if the gang-banger convicted of the crime might have been framed. If he had been set up then one or more cold-blooded killers were still on the loose and Hunter can't and won't let that go, if for no other reason than that he owes catching them to Big Jim.
