The Monster Show is a collection of essays and reviews written by Starburst Magazine columnist and reviewer J.R. Southall in the days before he became Starburst Magazine columnist and reviewer J.R. Southall, and comprises a number of essays and reviews written during the David Tennant era of the series and previously published (and in many cases still available) online and in Doctor Who fanzines.

Combining the level of wit and insight that J.R. Southall has subsequently brought to the popular* Blue Box Podcast, with a naivety that can only be appropriate to somebody who has been let loose on the internet for the first time at the age of nearly 40 years old, The Monster Show is “fun for all the family” (generic quote) and “a gripping read from start to finish” (outright lie).
