Imagine what it would be like if a Celtic warrior, born three thousand years ago, found himself facing life in modern Ireland. Such a man would have been bred to wield a sword and spear fearlessly facing death with honor and courage in defense of his king. The Legends: Beginnings brings this image to life. Ferdia, the son of CAchulainn, finds himself growing up in twenty-first-century Ireland. Adopted by a childless couple in County Louth, where his birth father roamed three thousand years earlier, the boy, now called Brian, is blessed with physical skills and abilities, but the days of "reddening one's sword" have long since passed. Fortunately for Brian, sport—particularly soccer and hurling—provide an accepted outlet for his abilities. This book is the story of Brian's growth and development, meeting the challenges in a world totally alien from that for which he was born and bred.
