Three great holiday stories for your reading pleasure!
Getting Out of Dodge(ville)
Melissa's fiance announced abruptly that he would NOT be taking her to meet his parents for Thanksgiving, because she had gained too much weight. If she could manage to stick to the next horrible diet-and-exercise plan of his and lose ten pounds in the next few weeks, he might take her at Christmas.
The next day he sent her in his mercedes with his credit card to pick up his dry-cleaning and she realized it was the perfect time to dump him! Using his credit card, she bought a plane ticket, stuffing her suitcase with his dry-cleaning, and leaving him a message to pick up his car at the airport. Her luck took a turn for the worse, though, as he checked his messages halfway through her escape and canceled his credit card. Stranded in a small Texas town after crashing her rental car and damaging some old man's home, she faces a spanking sheriff that isn't going to let her run out on her responsibilities!
Ow! Tannenbaum
Melissa is happily married to Ben Harris, a cattle rancher and part-time sheriff, and mother to his two children and the tot they had together. She knew before that he believed in spanking, but was naieve enough to think she could finagle her way out of punishment when she had it coming. Problems really soar when she disobeys him - driving the truck with the bad transmission - to buy the perfect Christmas Tree. Not only is the tree too large for their house, but she gets his children to help with her deception.
A New Year's Promise
Meg narrates her story with dry humor, but her smart mouth and incredible wit hide deep feelings of inadequacy and failure. She hates New Year's Resolutions, as they are just one more thing she fails at. This year, her husband draws up something a little different - a New Year's Promise - for her to sign. He hopes to help her on her road to recovery, as every demerit she earns during the week will be tallied up on Fridays and her resulting punishment meted out while the kids are in school. You will love her sense of humor, and feel for her when she calmly tells her husband that she tried to sell the kids, but there was apparently a glut on the market. Read more to find out in this five-chapter novella if this promise might just be the tool she needs to regain control of her life.
