The Death of a Child is a collection of essays in which parents and siblings tell their own stories of losing a child, brother or sister, and which sees them reflect on how they coped with grief and bereavement. There is a chronology to the book in that it will start from the earliest loss Carol Drinkwater's experience of repeated miscarriages - right up to Augusto Odone losing his severely disabled son, Lorenzo, the day after his 30th birthday, and Wendy Perriam losing her daughter, Pauline, when she was 43. Both were still their parents' children. The essays included will also cover different causes of bereavement, such as illness (brief and long-term), accident, and malice. The book will conclude with an expert essay from someone working professionally with those who lose children.
