Irene, with Cole’s help, has ended the magic within the Elysian stone. Now, as life returns to normal, she must try to find the strength to move forward in a reality she no longer wants to know. Her adventures have been terrifying and dangerous, but they’ve also been exciting. She can’t imagine her life without the wonderful fantastical elements she’s found, but they’re now worlds away.

In her new apartment in the city, Irene passes the time dreaming of Elliot, and of the darkness that he struggles to control. And though he’s been avoiding her, she longs for him so badly that she begins to hallucinate his presence, even his touch. But with a strange visit from her Lord, she discovers that her dreams are drawing out bits of his energy and making him weak. All for a reason he seems to understand more than she.

As the journey to Isle Lore nears, Irene witnesses the marking of a new faerie ruler. This along with an ancient, nearly-forgotten prophecy, leaves Irene more curious than ever. And as much as Irene longs to support her friends on their journey, she must face a different path and overcome a challenge that no one yet knows how to handle.

Will Irene’s legion be able to quell the darkness and finally bring peace to the lost souls? Or could the stone, brimming with power, make a final sacrifice to protect the one person Irene will always love?
