Victoria and Tim, the master sleuths' two-leggeds, have come to enjoy a few peaceful days on holiday in wintery Tyrol. But the unadulterated fun of sledging and cross-country skiing is the local police are searching for two hotel guests, passionate true crime fans, who recently disappeared without a trace. The two had come to investigate because women have been going missing in this seemingly idyllic forest for many years. Have the two amateur sleuths now themselves fallen victim to a cold-blooded serial killer?

With the police assuming accidents or suicides, it is once again up to Athos and Pearl to take the case into their own paws. Will they be able to find a solution where their two-legged counterparts have failed—without risking their own necks or those of their humans?
