All Hallow's Eve. Beltane. Halloween. Trick or treat night. Call it what you will, in the spookiest, most neglected and less visited places of the world night draws in and the veil between this world and the next draws back. On this night the ghosts of the next world pass through the veil to visit the living. Monsters, witches and worse travel the land, and all must stay away, safe indoors from the horror of the cold moonswept night outside.
This story isn't about any of that at all.
Well. Not really. It does have a ghost, sure - and a witch and vampire. Okay a skeleton too. Oh, and mister Crisp who is - well, burnt a bit.
Anyway, this isn't a story about Halloween either. Though it does take place on that night. Ah... and in a graveyard too.
Look! This is a game about "Crumble" the greatest card game of all of course, in which a run of chimney sweeps, the three of clowns and a milkmaid are about as much use as ... well as... something not very useful at all.
Yet this year will be the most challenging game of "Crumble" ever. Because this year they will have a visitor, and Oli - sorry, Dave the cat is not pleased at all, because it looks like his seat has been taken, and Old Mother Alice is about to have more than her leg pulled...
(Author's Note: "A Challenging Game of Crumble" is a humorous read out loud Halloween story for everyone. For those more used to that pesky paper stuff, it is about twelve pages long. So there are samples at the end. Read it out loud around a crackling fire. Read it in bed. Read it on the... well, you get the idea, and if you like it, well there are plenty more where that came from.
