All these are mere Epitomes, and never fail to excite in their readers a wish-to seea more copious and complete history of the place. Such a.wish has been often and very generally expressed; and some years ago, a young man, of the name of De wmore, offered to gratify it, and supply this de ficiency and lack of service. He accordingly cir culated printed proposals for publishing, by sub scription a larger account of the town than any that had yet appeared. -but, 'not meeting with sufficient encouragement, he dropt the design, and soon after quitted this vicinity.
