The year is 1873.
In her fashionable apartment in Grosvenor Square, Jane Merriock dreams of a new life.
She receives a letter from her Grandmother, inviting her to Pendenna Reach, her mother’s childhood home.
With her companion Molly at her side, Jane embarks on the next chapter in her life, travelling to the coast of Cornwall.
Arriving at the grand house, she is immediately drawn to Robert Thornton. He is the estate manager of her grandmother’s house, with fair hair and kind brown eyes.
But the welcome she receives from her Aunt Laura is far less warm.
Strangely, Robert promises that she will be kept safe for as long as he is near her.
When Jane finds a note on her dressing-room table, she begins to see why...
It reads: ‘Leave Pendenna Before It’s Too Late’.
Who gained access to Jane’s room, and who left this cryptic message?
Whose face does Jane see in the window of her bedroom?
What drives her Aunt to be so cold and so cruel?
Jane must find answers to these questions, or risk losing her place at Pendenna Reach, her beloved Robert , and maybe even her life...
