​Cali- Her scheming mother can’t be allowed to succeed in forcing her to partner with someone she doesn’t want. Another sticking point is that she thinks of Vathral as a friend, there are zero romantic feelings between them. So, there is only one thing for an independent minded, romantic like Calinae Edal to do. Steal a spacecraft and run beyond her mother’s reach of course. Leaving her lovebird friends time to do the commitment ceremony and foil her mother’s plans. Aicen Edal might be the most powerful woman on their planet, but she isn’t the most powerful woman in the universe. How could so simple a plan go wrong?

Drake- Being discovered in the stasis pod and woken on a strange ship isn’t the most unusual thing that’s happened to him lately. The instant attraction he feels for the fair-haired beauty standing over him is. His people are simple and so is their code. Honesty and honor in all things. Going against the code to protect his secrets isn’t easily accomplished. However, there are too many things at stake to let himself get close to an off-worlder, much less Calinae Edal. He’s heard things about her! Why is his instinct telling him there is more going on and that Cali isn’t remotely dangerous? Unless you count to his libido.

All that stands between Cali and Drake’s happy ending are lies, political scheming, betrayal, her planet and their issues, his planet and their secrets, family, friends, and the ever present “Murphy’s law”.
