**More drama than any play**
In Book Three of the *Her Majesty’s Theatre* series we delve into the private lives of the actors and actresses of the theatre.
Sir William Richfield and his wife Isabelle are hosting a Christmas party when Chief Inspector Hayes shows up. He is investigating the death of Ronald Baston, nephew of a duchess, who died in less than savoury circumstances, with an invitation to the party in his pocket. Isabelle explains she invited him as a favour to her friend, Lydia, but had never met him.
When Hayes asks to speak to two actors who are staying the night – Elly Fielding and Rory Cook, he is in for a surprise.
Both know Tommy Quinn, a former actor and the owner of the brothel Ronald Baston frequented, and Marguerite Lamoor, also known as Peg McCarthy, who it turns out has just burned down the boarding house they all call home.
It’s an eventful Christmas season, but more is to come, when eighteen year old Elly Fielding, also known as Elisa Roundtree, who is hiding from her father, who is determined to marry her off to a nasty man to get his hands on her inheritance, is kidnapped.
By the end of the story three people will be dead, two will be married, and one will be waiting to know if he swings for the crimes he’s committed.
