You've probably heard them. The jokes. They all start the same. 'See – this guy walks into a bar...' Well, Jack Shadow isn't that guy. The guy who walked in. Because one day Jack Shadow walked out of a bar. And nobody - not Jack, not the Dragon - knows anything else about him.
The day Jack walked out, the Dragon were waiting. A secret society who can offer those they choose the ability to travel through time, now Jack works for them. To fix things. To make them work the way the Dragon want them to. To make the future the way they want it to be. Which, in Jack's line of work, generally means killing whoever the Dragon want dead.
Jack's used to being someone's problem. At least, for as long as it takes him to do what he does best. But now he's the one with a problem. Because the Dragon think Jack knows something dangerous to them - and he has no idea what it is.
Jack knows what happens to Dragon problems. Generally, Jack happens. But now Jack's working for Jack, and he's really going to fix things. Fix them his way. Because some days - the last thing you need is a good guy.
If Raymond Chandler and Tom Holt had drunk two too many in a bar one night, Jack Shadow might have walked out of it.
