The Awakening

Adele Martin, like any other young woman had hopes and dreams of a life filled with promises kept, and grand visions for the future. Coming from a small town and without having a lot of money, Adele knew it would be difficult growing up. She never knew just how hard it would become. She had no way of knowing everything that was good and right would be sadly withheld her, and that all things dark, and secretive, would loom menacing like for the next several years. Home life was intolerable and she just couldn't stand the pain any longer. So, she decided to take matters into her own hands and make her own way in life. The one thing she had always claimed was that she'd never marry. Never! But Adele discovered that the plans she'd once had no longer applied to her and in the end, she ended up eating those words. And she learned to never say never.
