Laura is a single mother struggling to raise a troubled six-year-old son and she’s sick to death of irresponsible fathers. Dash is a cocky ex-football jock turned hotshot Seattle attorney who’s suddenly confronted with raising the five-year-old daughter he scarcely knows – something that threatens to put a serious crimp in his lifestyle.
With her rented home about to be sold and nowhere else to go, Laura reluctantly answers Dash’s ad for a live-in nanny. Upon meeting him she’s even less certain she wants the job, but his daughter Chloe - the little girl who’s been recently and inexplicably abandoned by her mother – quickly steals her heart.
Many wrong turns and mishaps later, Laura and Dash find themselves heading up an oddball family unit that is surprisingly workable. Laura and Chloe draw close and Dash finds unexpected challenge and reward in his fledgling relationship with Laura’s son Eddie, a child who has witnessed a terrible incident and emerged traumatized and withdrawn. Laura and Dash become friends despite an intense, hard-to-ignore physical attraction between the petite, reserved young woman and the enormous six-foot-nine former linebacker.
Trouble comes quickly, however, when the demands of Dash’s job and the personal and professional mistakes of his past threaten to blow this newfound family apart. And when Eddie finds he’s about to lose another father figure, his precarious hold on happiness disintegrates and Laura is forced to face some unpleasant realities about her son and her failings
