Religion and State

These essays examine major themes affecting religion and the state in a free society and the interaction of religion and world order. While concern is given to the historical and judicial context of the Establishment and Free Exercise Clauses of the First Amendment, special attention is given to contemporary church-state problems in American life. In addition, the volume analyzes alternatives to church-state relations outside the United States and freedom of religion in the international advance of human rights.
