It's the 22nd century. Salesman and family man Steven Sutton lives with his wife and daughter in the small town of Kettleby-By-The-Sea, in an ordinary house. It's called a smart home, equipped with robotic eyes, ears, arms, a voice, and a personality. Steve has named his best friend and house after his hero, the famous soccer player, Wayne Rooker.
Wayne helps out with everything: taking care of the recycling, the dishes, washing, heating, watering plants, even providing massages for the hard-working family. Steve feels like a king in a comfortable castle, while his wife thinks he's just being lazy. But Steve works the average 25 hours a week, and has a barbecue and Halloween to prepare for. He's a busy man.
At the barbeque, someone plays with a water pistol near Wayne's main server, and the house responds in a way it shouldn't by defending itself. Steve ends up rescuing his little daughter from strong and violent robotic arms.
Steve is left alone...
