An early morning in May, the police find the badly beaten body of Maja Nielsen in the Town Center's Park in Aarhus. She has fallen from a great hight, and her right arm is full of cuts. Everything indicates suicide, and when the police dive into her world, a young woman suffering from paranoia and violent nightmares is revealed. Something bothered Maja.

The investigation leads detective sergeant Daniel Trokic and his team to a strange blood profile with traces of an unknown drug, a tattooed Colombian, and a particularly uncompromising animal rights activist, who was wounded in a hit-and-run accident. And they begin to see a bloody pattern.

Sangfuglen is the third independent book in the series about Daniel Trokic, the detective sergeant with a Croatian background, his colleague Lisa Kornelius and the rest of the investigation team from Aarhus Police.
