**Hunter McFarlane**

I’d never been any further away than Canada. I work as a forensics technician for the FBI; testing samples and working on cases in a laboratory. Then my boss decided I needed some field experience so I was chosen in a forensics exchange program with a department in Wales. They sent me to Aberystwyth, which I was assured was a sleepy little town where I’d be investigating accidents and the odd burglary. I would be lonely and bored out of my mind. It turned out, that wasn’t the case. In just a few days I’d met Shane Griffiths; handsome local reporter, and the two of us were investigating a very strange murder.

I’d lived in Wales all my life, though I’d been born and studied journalism in Cardiff. I was ambitious, but had chosen to give up city life for the sea and a smaller, calmer way of life. It meant that the stories were smaller and less mysterious, or so I’d thought. It seems that everything changed the day I met Hunter McFarlane. He brought with him an air of mystery that quickly seemed to spill over into his cases and my personal life. Not that I minded, I’d been missing a little excitement.
