**The deception grew entirely out of hand**

For the sake of Mrs. Harnby, Michael's sweet but ailing mother, that Patricia agreed to the fantastic suggestion that she masquerade for a few days as Michael Harnby's wife.

How was she to know that the deception would spread so widely - with disastrous consequences that would threaten both her future and Michael's?
