Lori York is running away from a modern-day arranged marriage her parents believe will protect her from the world’s judgment and pity.

Her great-aunt, Zelda Potter, finagles her a job as caretaker of the isolated island lighthouse at Pajaro Bay. Lori intends to prove once and for all that she can live independently, without anyone’s help.

But when wounded Matt DiPietro washes ashore at the lighthouse during a raging storm—and he turns out to be a notorious gang leader—Lori may be in over her head.

When violence finds them on the isolated island, Lori will have to figure out if she truly wants to be alone, or if teaming up with Matt is the only way not only to survive, but to find her true self.
