It is 1936 and on leaving finishing school, Celia and Wenna Pengelly go their separate ways -- Celia to New Jersey and Wenna to London. But Cornwall is still their haven, and home to the family business Killigrew Clay. it is here that their younger brother Oliver is realizing his own dreams, though there is a possibility they may have to merge with another company to survive. As the world gets ready for war, the family struggles to keep pace with change, their stability threatened by uncontrollable outside forces.
