This volume examines the reception of Egypt during the Late Roman Empire from the perspectives of classical philology, ancient studies, and Egyptology. It focuses on Plutarch`s De Iside et Osiride [Moralia], as viewed in a broad contemporary, literary, and religious-historical context. It includes consideration of other authors who wrote about Egyptian religion, such as Iamblichus, Porphyrios, and Aelius Aristides.
