Special Report - Combined Wire Services San Francisco, 9 March 1999 - Private Alfred Hannon, California Guard, Active, age nineteen, was found dead from a bayonet wound in the neck. It appears he had been severely beaten before he was stabbed. No witnesses have been located, and it seems there was no apparent motive.

Private Alfred Hannon was the first military casualty of the Second Civil War.

Major Harvey: “My adjutant just completed a nationwide inspection of the militia. They seem ready, but I’m still a bit concerned about the discipline. I just hope we don’t have a blood orgy.”

Abe Williams: “I’ve been in constant contact. They are ready. The only loose ends we have are political, and that we can work out by ear.”

Norman Ritter: “We’re zeroed in on air traffic control, gas mains, water supply, power plants, communications,.”

General Bogan: “I see no reason to change the battle order. We hit tonight!”
