The bitchy London newspaper columnist Rhoda Carvell and her lover are found dead in her Sussex cottage. It appears she died only hours before her uncontested application for divorce was to be heard. masters and Green of Scotland Yard face not a few knotty problems in establishing death. Was it suicide? Quite impossible given the circumstances but if it's murder, the who an dthe how and the why remain baffling.
