Rollie Sweats and his small band of rebels have fled Zurich, Switzerland, and are on the run from the repressive World Council, contract killers and spreading world war.

Their relocation to Virginia, a former State in America, lasts only a year. A "snitch" among them has tipped off the authorities to their location. As the World Council troops move in to capture them, they flee just in time to the Central Highlands of Vietnam.

The socialistic World Council army is led by one of the original "Healers". The fascist Black Cross army is directed by a famous, 19th-century "madman".
