SHOWDOWN IN ABILENE

The men from Rancho Bravo have just driven five thousand head of Longhorns north from Texas to Abilene, Kansas. Once the herd has been sold, the men look forward to sampling everything the cattle town has to offer. But foreman Jay Durango has other ideas. The men had better toe the line, or they’ll have Town Marshal ‘Bear River’ Tom Smith to deal with.

But when a fight breaks out following a visit to Abilene´s opera house, the Rancho Bravo boys—including Billy Calhoun, Tom Calhoun’s youngest son—wind up in jail.

It never rains but it pours. And while his men are locked away, Jay encounters an old enemy in the shape of gunman Lee Kedrick, who has some plans of his own plans about getting rich any way possible.

Jay is the only man who stands in his way.

GUNFIGHTER’S LEGACY

When Sam Wilcox reached the Brasada country in West Texas, his enemies were still following him. He was wounded - and his only chance to stay alive was young Billy Calhoun. KIOWA REBELLION

John Calhoun was on the way to Fort Sill, Arizona to visit an old friend. But Don Crawford had already been attacked and killed by a bunch of Kiowa warriors. Driven by a medicine man´s bloody vision, the Kiowas hoped to get guns and ammunition - but all they found instead was a shipment of corn.

Soon after John reached Fort Sill, he learned that the Kiowas had started a rebellion against all the whites in this area. But there were people behind the scenes who figured they could use the uprising to their own advantage - and the only way to stop John from spoiling their little scheme was to send a killer to rub him out ...

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Alfred Wallon was born in Germany in 1957 and has been a student of the Old West since he started reading. "I inherited this love from my father," says Alfred. "I remember him reading a lot of western novels and watching TV series like High Chaparral, Laramie, The Rifleman and quite a few others." Alfred grew up with western novels and decided in 1980 to write one of his own, Showdown in Abilene. Influenced by the TV series High Chaparral, this was to become the first book in his epic ranch western series, RIO CONCHO. Over the last 30 years Alfred, who is also a member of the Western Writers of America, has written 30 novels in this series. A prolific penman, he has also written some 150 short novels and 50 paperbacks and harcovers during the last 30 years, including everything from historical westerns to SF Fantasy, Crime and Adventure to Horror. With PP co-founder Ben Bridges he has collaborated on three books, All Guns Blazing, Cannon for Hire and Earth-Shattering. He also writes a series called THE CIVIL WAR CHRONICLES. "More than thirty years after I started writing westerns, one of my dreams has finally come true," says Alfred. "Thanks to Piccadilly Publishing, I finally get the opportunity to see English-language editions of my books being offered to western readers worldwide."
