Michael McDowell wrote three Jack Susan books in which Jack Susan, always 27 years old, meet, acquire a dog, and solve a crime in different decades. In 1933 Jack and Susan are both married to the Wrong People. These People are not quite so Wrong that Jack and Susan would like to bump them off, but when one of them turns up dead, Susan becomes the cops favorite suspect. Thank heaven Jack (and the intrepid Scotty and Zelda) are on hand to prevent a terrible miscarriage of justice!
