A school teacher crashes her car in the Ohio River and washes up in 1889 with a Scottish immigrant trying to revive her. Her great-great-grandmother takes her in and she quickly finds herself teaching in a one-room schoolhouse with a town elder offering her a life of luxury if she would be his pet of a wife. Evan came to America to become a farmer and his rugged good looks make Lily question what sensible really means. Would either of these Victorian men understand her desire to teach as a career or to change the lives of her female students through education? How can she choose whom to love?
