* **The Heist** * is an adult comedy fantasy thriller. It's the first in a series of books by the author of Wizards and is a similar blend of humorous encounters and deadly force. It touches on many adult themes.

Paul Jones deals in magic. But unlike people who provide tricks for illusionists and stage magicians, Paul deals in the real thing, small personal magic that often makes the world a better place, but sometimes makes it worse. He sells this magic and sometimes he gives it away. He sees his role in life as helping desperate people.

Paul runs his own company, Magic Limited, which he thinks is not bad going for a man in his twenties. However, he doesn't make much in the way of money and his office is the stock room of an art shop in Covent Garden Market.

He's happy with his life, more or less. He's the kind of guy who makes friends easily, but is a hopeless klutz with romantic relationships. Marriage and divorce came quickly to him and now he's a free agent.

As the story starts, someone is out to kill him while others are trying to steal magic from him. A new girl enters his life while both his ex-wife and the strange girl who ended his marriage are back on the scene. Chaos is inevitable.

Before he knows it, he's up to his neck in trouble. MI5 have him in their sights as a terrorist and people are getting killed around him. But Paul is not the sort of guy who gives up when the going gets tough.
