Maybe it was the contrast to her own world of kids and work, and her “dress casual” office outfit that made what she saw as so alien to her. Her pressed pants clung to her legs snugly at the thigh, and a little looser at the ankle. She carried her coffee and her purse with all the aplomb of a suburban, practical mom. She looked down as she stepped off the curb, taking care where to land with her high heels. She was going to pass within a few feet of him."
