There may be more deer, antelope, bighorn sheep, lizards and rattlesnakes than human residents in this epic sandstone wonderland. Arches, Canyonlands, Capitol Reef, Bryce Canyon and Zion National Parks are but a few of the fascinating places that have been officially designated in this state, and many more miles of unnamed desert, forest, canyons and rivers fill the land. Red sandstone buttes, blue mesas, purple rock pinnacles, and narrow spires create what has been dubbed "Color Country." Lofty mountains with lakes, forested slopes, and desert plateaus provide ample opportunity for the intrepid traveller.
