In the fragile peace between Earth and Mars, 2nd Lieutenant Jethro Tull is tasked with gathering evidence of an alien invasion of Mars and returning the evidence to Earth because communications between the two planets are down.

Jethro is serving with a security detail on an Earth Mining Vessel surveying the Asteroid belt for minerals when he receives a personal message from a friend on Mars. She tells him aliens have invaded her parents’ farm and killed them and she is in hiding. Jethro’s boss reluctantly diverts the EMV to Mars to investigate. When they reach Mars, they discover a full scale alien invasion is taking place.

Shortly after landing, Jethro's boss is killed by aliens, forcing Jethro into a command role he may not be ready for. Then the EMV vanishes, trapping Jethro and his team in the middle of a war zone on Mars.
