The Chair Falls at Night

Everyone has a past and a hope for a future. Joy Hand’s family has lost their home to a fire, and the farm house they move into gives them hope to build a new future, but this house has a past. Growing up in South Georgia can be hard enough but some change brings new experiences, especially when your Daddy has to push the limits to make ends meet, and his old friend Frank Little comes to visit.

Joy Hand is ten years old and is thankful to have a bedroom for the first time in her life, even if it is one where there is a story her parents won’t tell her. Joy has the greatest weapons to confront whatever is in the room: imagination and innocence. She will need both for the summer of 1952, because every night the chair falls, and with the sunrise each day can bring a new terror or hope.
